This is a two sided chart (two versions of "Jazz Is As Good As It Gets ”)
Easy Big Band plus Flexible Small Group (Mix & Match)
DESCRIPTION:
JAZZ IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS has a catchy theme supported by a swing/shuffle feel, which alternates throughout the chart. The saxophones have a little ‘soli’ feature. There is an optional written trumpet solo and the drummer also gets a ‘look in’.
There are two versions of this arrangement, printed back to back.
The first arrangement has a full Big Band instrumentation.
The second arrangement has a Small Group (Mix & Match) instrumentation – it is also in an easier key, with easier ranges and does not have a key change.
This chart also has vocal lyrics & some scat lyrics - with optional 3 part harmonies.

Side one “Jazz Is As Good As It Gets” is for the larger ensemble:
5 saxes, 4 trumpets,
4 trombones, piano, guitar, bass, drums
(optional cow bell, vibes, FHorn, flute, clarinet, vocal (with lyrics & some scat lyrics)
Side two “Jazz Is As Good As It Gets”is for the small group which must have a rhythm section and is written so as any four or more front line instruments can be added.
Ideal instrumentation for the small group version would be: Rhythm section with a trumpet, alto sax, tenor sax, trombone, bari sax. Or any similar combo’.
